Mumbai Police Nab Actor from Chhattisgarh after 40-Hour Manhunt

Mumbai Police arrested Bollywood actor Sahil Khan on Sunday morning in connection with the Mahadev betting app case. The arrest came after a manhunt that lasted over 40 hours, with the police chasing Khan across multiple states, including Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, before he was finally tracked down and apprehended in Chhattisgarh.

Khan, a well-known fitness entrepreneur who posts content on his YouTube account, had fled Mumbai in a car soon after his anticipatory bail application was rejected by the Bombay High Court last Wednesday.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has initiated a search of Khan’s mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic devices as part of their investigation into the case.

What is the Mahadev Betting App Case?

The Mahadev Online betting app, operated by Saurabh Chandrakar from Chhattisgarh and Ravi Uppal from Dubai, allegedly used paid advertisements on social media apps to lure people into betting on players and outcomes of IPL matches, football, tennis, and other sports events.

The app’s customers were provided with a unique login ID and password to place bets. The accused allegedly used social media platforms to target and induce prospective players to invest and sign up on the portal.

The Mumbai Cyber Cell’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been conducting a probe into the alleged illegal transactions between certain financial and real estate firms in the state and the promoters of the Mahadev betting app, which is estimated to have garnered Rs 15,000 crore.

Sahil Khan’s involvement in the case is linked to his promotion of the Khiladi Book, a division of the Mahadev app. The actor was detained by the SIT and has been sent to police custody until May 1.

As the investigation unfolds, the Mumbai Police continue to crack down on illegal betting apps and their operators, ensuring that those involved are brought to justice.
